Having secured a job at Bellhops Moving –  He resolved to walk an almost 20 miles to work as the night before, his 2003 Nissan Altima made it’s last attempt at being usable. The Engine simply knocked off. Walter Carr, who couldn’t find a ride after this, walked from Homewood at midnight in order to arrive at his Bellhops moving job in Pelham by 8 a.m. Friday.  He used Google Maps to calculate the time it would take to walk from his house to the job site. That was a whooping 7 hours – but that didn’t stop him. He ate something around midnight and headed out on foot all the way from Homewood to Pelham in the early morning hours of July 14 in time to make it to his work station before 8am when the move was to begin.

She says this entirely change her perspective of moving day being Walter’s first job as a bellhop, and he still had the energy to work hard and with a good attitude throughout the rest of the day.

Carr’s dedication astounded not only Jenny Lamey and her husband, the couple he was helping to move – who set up a GoFund Me account for him targeting 2000 Dollars but has gone to hit over 90,000 Dollars –

25,000 of which Walter donated to Birmingham Education Foundation https://youtu.be/LsJo14KnomQ which he says helped him so so much, but also the Pelham Police Department.
